Corbett Harrison created the WritingFix website back in 1999, and—today—with what little free-time he has when he’s not teaching fulltime in Northern Nevada, he continues to serve as its webmaster.
In 2001, the Northern Nevada Writing Project became sponsors to WritingFix, and for ten years, Corbett created and taught dozens of teacher inservice classes wherein participants studied the elements of effective writing instruction and created lessons and units based on current research and best practices.
The best of those teacher-created resources became part of the WritingFix website, which to this day remains one of the most unique collections of mentor text-inspired writing lessons designed for kindergarten through college instructors.
These days, Corbett spends his time further developing his own classroom website which in the spirit of WritingFix, shares engaging strategies and lessons currently being worked on in Corbett’s actual classroom.
With almost twenty-five years of teaching under his belt, Corbett remains passionate in his belief that writing instruction must always be relevant to students.
Corbett, who is still searching for the perfect writing lesson, proudly shares his best new ideas about writer’s notebooks, vocabulary instruction, and mentor texts at two websites: CorbettHarrison.com and WritingFix.com
