Grants:
Creative Assistance Grant: The Montana State Reading Council will award a maximum of $1000 to a local reading council or councils. This grant is to encourage local councils to undertake a project that will promote literacy throughout their schools and communities
Classroom Teacher Project Grant: The Montana State Reading Council will fund Classroom Teacher Project Grants are intended to assist practitioners in implementing current reading research and innovative practices existing, or to be piloted, in present programs. This provides educators with opportunities to explore new ideas and/or to examine existing practices as they relate to learning outcomes. Implementation of the proposed project will be during the 2011-2012 school year.

Awards:
Administrator's Reading Award: Montana State Reading Council will recognize an Administator for his or her commitment to enriching literacy education and for inspiring his or her staff to strive for excellence in literacy instruction.
Pam Atchinson Memorial Reading Award: The Pam Atchison Award is sponsored by Great Northern Books. A $100 stipend will be given by GNB to the recipient of the award. A teacher/librarian must be assigned in a teaching or a librarian position in the state of Montana and may not be a previous winner of this award. The teacher/librarian must be a member of the Montana State Reading Council. How does the teacher/librarian promote, encourage and inspire literacy (reading, writing, and communication skills) with students, peers and community?
June Atkins Service Award: This award will go to a member who has served on the MSRC Board of Directors for a minimum of five years. S/he will be acknowledged for service to MSRC, local councils and the community.
Legislative Advocacy Council Award: The Montana State Reading Council will present an annual Legislative Advocacy Award to a local council at the annual State Reading Conference. The award will be a check for $100 to the local council with the most Congressional and/or Legislator visitations.
Literacy Award: Any individual, agency or institution who promotes literacy within the community is eligible to receive the MSRC Literacy Award.

Scholarships:
Montana State Reading Council Scholarship: The Montana State Reading Council will award a $1000 scholarship in the name of June Atkins to an individual who is conducting graduate study in education at an accredited university, preference given to those attending a Montana university or college.
